Balance Bar Dark Review

Balance Bar has several different varieties of what they call “nutrition bars” in their line up, most of them sporting a good ratio of 40%/30%/30%. While they aren’t necessarily marketed as protein bars, they do have a good amount of protein. This review is focusing on their new Dark line of Balance Bars, which feature 3 flavors: Dark Chocolate Coconut, Dark Chocolate Crunch, and Dark Chocolate Peanut. Lets look at the macros!

Balance Bar Dark Macros

As you can see, the macros aren’t all that bad. 180 Calories, 20g of Carbs and 13g of Protein per bar. These are definitely not hardcore protein bars, but they do have a good macro profile for a product that focuses more about taste. If you remember the Pure Protein Bar Review, the macros were better than these coming in at 190 Calories, 14g Carbs, and 17g Protein. These bars are marketed more like a granola bar than a protein bar though, and it is refreshing to see that they have more than the typical 4-5g of protein you find in most of those.

The place where these bars really shine is the flavor. I have had each of the three Dark flavors and all of them are very good. I prefer the Dark Chocolate Coconut, but all of them are very close. These aren’t like most “flavorful” bars that have some nutrients but taste like cardboard. If I didn’t know these were supposed to be a nutrition product, I would think it was a dessert. While these are definitely not suitable for protein supplementation every day, they are a good choice to grab for the road if you are looking for a tasty snack that isn’t too bad for you.
